Prestatyn Golf Club

Respect to the 15 hardy souls who braved the cold north, well cold Wales anyway, especially those who were obviously still recovering from doses of Covid. Steady icy wind persisted most of the day as our brave heroes battled through but thankfully the rain only appeared for a few short bursts. Despite the weather I thought the course was in great shape, but I would say that wouldn’t I.

Some great matchplay games were had; the Kirkland/Foode saga finally came to an end at the third attempt, Paul Foode managed to win his match and the wooded spoon at the same time and Andy must have bent his putter in the warm up!

The highlight of the day however was the ‘When I was a lad’ tour of Connah’s Quay given by Colin Davies on our return home, with his primary school, his grandad’s house and his local being the principle highlights. Recommend it!

Merry Christmas everyone.

Thanks and congrats to our winner, Evan Bale
